March 2020 Newsletter

Hello families! First of all – a quick reminder about sledding THIS coming Saturday. Please see below to sign up!

Thank you to all who joined us for the Blue and Gold Dinner as we said goodbye to our Webelo II Den. It was a wonderful evening filled with memories, talents and laughter. Our Webelo I Den now has taken on the leadership role for our pack and will be performing the flag ceremonies for all our pack meetings. Thanks to all the families who donated to the Friends of Scouting Campaign. If you haven’t had a chance to donate, please see the information posted below.

Rescheduled: Saturday, March 7, 9-11am
Pack Outing: Sledding!
Find the sign up on our Facebook Page

Pack 428 is headed to the mountains! Let’s all go and have some fun sledding at the Hyak Tubing Hill! This groomed sledding hill located off of I-90 exit 54, near Snoqualmie East, Hyak is a Washington State Parks snow play area, and is not affiliated with the Summit at Snoqualmie ski resort. The area is groomed up to five times a week (depending on conditions) but is not supervised by rangers or snow patrol. BRING YOUR OWN SLED OR TUBE.
There are more details (like parking, directions and what to bring) in the sledding sign up.

BSA “Friends of Scouting” Campaign
Consider Donating to Scouting

It’s that time, during the Scout Year, that families are asked to consider investing in the Friends of Scouting Campaign. Our pack’s goal for this year is $3000.

Your gift supports At-Risk programs in Rainier Valley, Camp Scholarships, Camp Maintenance, Accident Insurance, Scout Support Staff, Volunteer & Youth Training programs, to name just a few.

Here is a link to donate on-line. Give a one-time gift or join the Summit Circle and give $15 per month.

Wednesday, March 18, 6:30-8:00 at Ben Rush Elementary Commons
Pack Meeting: Cub Scout Athletic Skills

Join us this month at our pack meeting to, not only learn important athletic and general scout skills, but also to play fun games and have a great time.

Saturday, March 28, 1-4pm at Bellevue Fred Meyer
Pack Outing: Scouting for Food
Find the sign up on our Facebook Page

This is BSA’s national campaign to collect food for our local food banks
and make a difference in our community! Food banks are typically at their
lowest levels this time of year, and this is a fun and simple way we can help out! Don’t forget that community service is a requirement for each rank.

Scouts sign up for a one-hour time slot between 1pm and 4pm at the Bellevue Fred Meyer on 148th. We need several uniformed scouts and two parent supervisors for each hour. We will be stationed out front between the two large double doors. We hand out shopping lists to shoppers as they enter the store and then collect the food that they purchase. We can also accept cash donations. It is a great opportunity for scouts to share their enthusiasm for scouting and practice politely asking for donations. The last group of the day helps pack up the food collected, and it is all taken to HopeLink.

A Look Ahead

Sign Ups, Sign Ups, Sign Ups!
We know it is difficult to keep track of all the sign-ups used for the various events. We have also purposely tried to remove/limit the links to sign-ups on our website due to its public nature. We have posted all the links to current sign-up opportunities on our Facebook page and will continue to keep this updated.
