Pack 428 Newsletter
Hello families! Well, what a month! This newsletter is so much different than last month’s – as are our lives! First of all, we want to say that if you need anything at all (even something as basic as interaction with a non-family member), please reach out to your den leader, your pack committee or myself. We are here for you!
Although it will be a while yet until we are able to get together in person, the pack is planning some virtual events for the scouts, so keep reading.
Astronomy and the Space Station
We are planning a few fun online events for the pack, possibly including a game of literal telephone (will the message make it through to the last call)? We also have someone interested in giving a quick astronomy lesson – details TBD, but will involve scouts looking up at the sky at the same time and learning some cool stuff. We will be in touch as these details get hammered out, but hope to “see” some of you online for these events soon!
It may be some time before den meetings can start up again, so we are encouraging families to work on rank requirements at home. Everyone should have their rank’s handbook, but they are also posted on our website: https://pack428.com/resources/cubscout/ (except for Lions). You’ll also find the link to Scoutbook there where you can (and should) log your scout’s progress. Den leaders will be reaching out with information on working on rank requirements remotely. You can also proactively contact your den leader!
If you weren’t able yet to meet your community service requirement, get creative! We won’t be having Scouting for Food or our Earth Day event, but what can you do to help the community at this time? Always easy (and necessary): pick up trash in your neighborhood. What else can you think of? Make masks? Write letters of thanks to healthcare workers?
A Look Ahead
There is nothing scheduled for April (no pinewood derby this year). We may be able to get together in May for rocket building and launching, and we hope to get together in June for our end of year picnic. None of the camping trips have been cancelled as of yet, so please feel free to sign up, with the understanding that they might not happen (fingers crossed).
