January 2022 Newsletter

Happy New Year! We are excited to embark on a new year of scouting. We have several fun events coming up, and we are eager to get back together as a pack. Thanks to those of you who sent cards to the Emerald Corwin Center. I’m sure they added joy to their holidays.

In this issue:

  1. January Pack Meeting
  2. Winter Camp Update
  3. A Look Ahead
  4. Thank you to our Pack Leaders and Committee Members
  1. January Pack Meeting: First Aid
Wednesday, January 19, 6:30pm, Ben Rush Elementary Commons

Good news! We have permission from LWSD to have our pack meeting indoors in their common area. Remember that masks will be required for everyone.

Each year we learn about first aid, hopefully adding new knowledge on this topic each year. For returning scouts, please bring your first aid kits with you to be replenished. New scouts will receive a new first aid kit to be assembled at the meeting.

2.Winter Camp Update

Winter Camp is officially full (both overnight and day slots). If you have not yet paid for winter camp, you must contact Steve Donahue ASAP to arrange payment. Because the pack had to prepay for camp based on the participants who signed up, we cannot offer refunds if your plans have changed.

An email will be sent shortly with more information about Winter Camp, including packing suggestions, arranging carpools, signing medical forms and vaccine/testing requirements. In the meantime, more information about Camp Sheppard can be found here: https://seattlebsa.org/camping/camp-sheppard/.

3. A Look Ahead

The Reptile Man will be able to join us for our February 16th meeting. Meetings are usually held the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

We need a parent volunteer to lead a pack outing in February. You would choose the date and activity and make arrangements. Ideas include a simple hike, sledding, scavenger hunt, or arranging a group visit to a museum, e.g. Museum of Flight. Please contact Melinda or Chris H. if you are interested in helping.

4. Thank you to our continuing and new pack leaders!
