January 2023 Newsletter

Happy New Year! We are excited to embark on a new year of scouting. We have several fun events coming up, and we are eager to get back together as a pack.

We had over 50 cards and 20 snowflakes, as well as a few hand-written letters to deliver to the residents of Emerald Heights Retirement Community. The residents were gathered in the common room when they were handed out (thanks, Dickson family!), and really enjoyed receiving the cards and seeing the scouts. The snowflakes were hung up in their community room the next day.

In this issue:

  1. January Pack Meeting: Mad Science Show

Wednesday, January 18, 6:30pm, Ben Rush Elementary Common8

FIZZ! POP! BOOM! The audience will be amazed when the Mad Scientist is able to defy gravity in this energetic and spectacular special event. The children will be enthralled with the exotic sounds of the didgeridoo tubes. They will watch as the Mad Scientist creates an extra hand, to help with some of the more complicated experiments. An explosion of foam will help to end this event and leave the audience begging for more. You won’t want to miss it!

  • Winter Camp

Winter Camp is coming up 2/10-2/12 .

  • January Hike

January Outing – Hike – January 28

We need a parent volunteer to lead a simple hike on January 28. There are lots of good, local options like Redmond Watershed Preserve, Evan’s Creek Preserve or Bridle Trails. Responsibilities include picking location, time and making a sign-up genius.

                  4. New Membership Chair Needed

The purpose of membership chair is to help ensure a smooth transition of new scouts into the pack and orientation for new parents. The Membership Chair ensures that new scout applications are processed and submitted to the local BSA Council efficiently, new scouts are added to the email distribution group and Facebook Group, works with the Treasurer to collect dues and registration as required, greets visitors at pack meetings, and answers questions from interested individuals. Melinda is currently our membership chair and will work with you until you feel comfortable with this role. If you are interested or have more questions, please contact her.

For cub scout uniforms and accessories.
